There are many and varied Reiki styles & practitioner/ teachers out there which can make choosing one quite confusing. The following information will help you decide if I am the one for you or not. I completed my Reiki 1 (Shoden) training in January 2005, having ‘got the bug’ I went on to do Reiki 2 (Okuden) In March 2005. I worked as a Reiki practitioner alongside other employment for many years. After being inspired by a client I decided to do the Master/Teacher training (Shipinden) and completed this in February 2012. I have completed all of my reiki training with Tina Shaw of Absolute Reiki, an amazing and inspirational teacher and practitioner. I now work full time as a Reiki practitioner/teacher, workshop facilitator and coach.
I am an advocate of keeping things simple, and therefore favour the more traditional Japanese Usui style of working & teaching. I come from a Reiki lineage that honours both the Japanese and more Westernised Reiki treatment & teaching methods. Students, particularly at master level, can then decide what works best for them. There is a strong emphasis on working intuitively & developing your own intuition and working style.
Reiki is available to anyone and everyone who wants it; you do not need to have psychic ability, use angel or spirit guides, or be a spiritual healer, you do not need to have a ‘gift’, however, if you do, that’s great – everything is welcome here. All you really need is an open mind, willingness and yourself, just as you are.
You will get out of your Reiki journey what you put in. How far you want to develop your Reiki skills and the direction you want to take your learning is entirely up to you, the potential is limitless. Reiki is expansive and all encompassing, each of us bringing our own flavour to it and developing following our own interests and awakenings.
On a practical level, Reiki Training groups are limited to 4 places, this feels far more intimate and inclusive than a larger group and allows us to work at a comfortable pace, giving space for people to ask questions and explore things that may arise. Teaching materials are provided in advance therefore training days have greater emphasis on practical work.
One of the many things I love about Reiki is the deep sense of connection it gives me with other people, the universe and (my personal understanding of) the divine; and the opportunity it provides me for getting in touch with and further developing my intuitive self.
In 2014 I added to my Reiki skill set by completing a Reiki Drum Healing & Journeying Technique course and regularly use drumming as a standard part of my reiki treatments as well as offering Individual Journeying sessions and 1/2 day Group Journeying workshops. I also completed a ‘Transformational Leadership’ Training Program in the USA throughout 2014 to expand my Workshop facilitation and coaching skills. I am currently undertaking further training to develop my Shamanic work.
It is my deepest desire is to empower others to break away from all that limits them so that they can step into being the amazing person that they are and live a fuller, more fulfilled and more authentic life.
